Kihnu is a small island of 400 permanent inhabitants. Folk culture of islanders was taken into the list of intangible heritage of UNESCO in 2003.
Unemployment causes situations where men and women seek job on the mainland or abroad. Some kids stay on the island with grannies, several must leave their beloved homes in Kihnu.
