Less than 50 km southwest of Sarajevo, in the village of Lukomir, mere 11 inhabitants stay for the long lonely winter. From November until the end of April the villagers are isolated from the outside world. Snowfall makes the dead end dirt road – Lukomir's only access – impassable. The people hold on tight to their only connection to the rest of the world – a phone and television, but in such inhospitable lands even these are challenged by the elements.
